Exemplary projectsIn our view, providing advice on sustainable solutions to clients in the building sector is just the first stage. Actually proceeding to implement them is the next step. Search business premises in Amsterdam and Heeswijk
The construction of Search’s own new office buildings in Amsterdam and Heeswijk has set a good example to both the building industry and clients interested in new construction. Their basic structures comprise solid timber frames. Thanks to the use of geothermal storage, solar panels and two wind turbines, the two buildings generate more energy than they actually consume. In fact, they even supply electricity to the national grid in the evenings and at weekends.
Park 20|20 in Haarlemmermeer
Park 20|20 in Haarlemmermeer is a prime example of sustainable building. During the next few years, a large-scale office complex is to be built in this municipality in the province of Noord-Holland. The level of aspiration in this case is to achieve a one hundred percent Cradle to Cradle process. The outline design was produced by none other than William McDonough, who jointly developed the Cradle to Cradle concept with Michael Braungart. Elaboration of the materialization of the design is to be carried out in cooperation with Search.
Central heating facilitiesSearch was engaged by a Dutch investor to perform a study into the renovation of the central heating facilities of six blocks of flats in Apeldoorn. As a sustainable solution, we opted for a combination of energy roofs and geothermal storage systems. Not only did this solution prove highly competitive in relation to conventional methods, but it also offers the tenants greater comfort and is highly environmentally friendly. Sustainable property investmentsSearch provides substantial numbers of SMEs dedicated supervision and consultancy services in the area of construction of sustainable property investments. In this context, our consultants examine not only the possibilities of sustainable solutions, but also payback periods, feasibility and available subsidies. Sustainability visionA sustainability vision serves as the basis for the current developments of various business parks throughout the Netherlands. Together with the clients, Search defined the levels of aspiration for these. We inspire and support individual entrepreneurs interested in establishing businesses at these sites. The focus in this case is on the sustainable development of immovable property. Upscaling in Almere
The Municipality of Almere is keen to make a leap forward in terms of scale, and has therefore laid down its high-level aspirations in a document known as the ‘Almere Principles’. Search provided the consultants for the design team responsible for the construction of 4,200 sustainable homes for the Ymere housing corporation. Search Ingenieursbureau also cooperated in a tender submitted by Bun Property for the small-scale area development of a district shopping centre in the Columbuskwartier district of Almere. Innovative and creative consultant
Another initiative that poses exciting challenges to the design and development team in which Search participates, is ING Real Estate’s plan to construct 40 water homes and 80 apartments in the form of a ‘delicacy’ at a former landfill site in the Municipality of Wijdemeren. As a creative developer, ING Real Estate is keen to redevelop this site in partnership with the municipality and Natuurmonumenten (Society for the Preservation of Nature Reserves in the Netherlands). Search is also involved in an advisory capacity in the development and the realisation of seven urban villas as well as a high-rise apartment building for De Nijs Projectontwikkeling.
