Search to build sustainable business premises

Search is building two new business premises in Amsterdam and Heeswijk that will generate all the energy they need by themselves and will even supply energy back to the energy network. The first starting point is to build energy-neutral buildings and the second is that they must realistically be economically feasible and affordable.

Execution

British-made vertical windmills will be placed beside the buildings. Not only beautifully designed, they are also eminently suitable for generating sufficient energy even with very little wind. The Amsterdam building is built on Betonson piles for heat and cold storage in the deeper layers of the soil. The buildings will be provided with energy roofs with solar collectors for the provision of hot water. The timber frame building in Amsterdam is designed such that the facade can be hermetically closed in the evening, so that all the heat remains in the building and, furthermore, burglars are kept out.

The timber frame is made entirely from sustainable timber. An insulation layer of compressed wood fibre will be inserted between the inner and outer walls. Rainwater will be collected to form the source for the grey water circuit that will flush the toilets. All the windows are three double-glazed to ensure the greatest possible insulation of the window areas.
