Why did I write this book?
A big adventure
Writing a book about sustainable development is quite an adventure, especially since developments in this field are highly dynamic by nature. The world is now truly in the grip of sustainability. If you were to ask me why I embarked on this adventure, my answer would be simple. Like many millions of fellow human beings, I am keen to make a tangible contribution, to ensure that both our own and future generations want for nothing.
And it is possible! That much became clear to me during the course of the many conversations I held with politicians, scientists, researchers and representatives. Sustainable Development... a Global Opportunity shows the positive side of the coin. It highlights the opportunities there for the taking, which are also economically feasible.
Economics and ecology can co-exist, and provide the solution for a sustainable future and for a clean, safe and healthy world. Our generation’s footprint on Earth can make a highly positive contribution. I am firmly convinced of that. That we are capable of truly implementing sustainable development is an incontrovertible fact to me. Entrepreneurs, politician, architects and trend watchers view sustainable development as both a challenge and a wonderful opportunity. Read their personal stories, as they speak volumes.
